About Us

Storm Netball Club welcomes everyone who wants to be involved in our great sport. We provide competitive and social netball opportunities for Players, Umpires and Coaches of all ages and levels of experience and ability, with high-performance training and development pathways also available. We attract Players from all over Western Australia, enjoying supportive relationships with many rural and remote-based families and the boarding school’s their children attend. Storm registers around 25 teams each Winter season in the Perth Netball Association competition at Matthews Netball Centre (Jolimont) and pride ourselves on embracing all Players from where they are at in their netball journey. We have a comprehensive and well supported Umpiring Program. Storm wants all Members, with whatever involvement they have with our club, to feel valued and have a shared sense of belonging. The heart of Storm is reflected in the respectful and supportive conduct of all Members and their families and friends, both on and off the court, at all times.

Our Proud History

Storm Netball Club has contributed greatly to the development of netball in Western Australia for over 60 years!

We began in 1954 as the Hospital Benefits Women’s Basketball Club and moved to Matthews Netball Centre in 1961. We were known as HBF Netball Club through to the 1990’s, then changed to Benefits Netball Club.

In 2008 we became Storm Netball Club. Many of our Life Members (and multiple generations of their families!) have been with us for multiple decades and are still highly active in our club and Western Australian netball. Our well-known President, Kerry Gates, has received many prestigious awards for outstanding contributions to netball and has been in our club for over 60 years! As we have adapted and grown we have always remained true to what makes us so successful; being an inclusive, supportive, resilient and strong family unit.

We welcome you to our Storm family!
